To touch gently
Not to tap on the glass
But here I am
Tending to the cracks
Trying to shed
The imprint of your hands
And you walk away unscathed
Your skin soft like a newborn
Like a snake shedding his old skin
Your former scales wound tightly around my neck
I watched you be reborn
Like a phoenix from the ashes
Without a second thought
To the mortal things around you
That also burned
